Walnuts

The Californian walnut industry is very well sold and offers rare. Shipments for the crop
year to date are significantly higher than last year. Prices for remaining volumes are
extremely high compared to where the market opened.
Buyers have turned their attention to Chile whose excellent quality product is very
reasonably priced compared to previous seasons and the latest offers from California.
The Chilean crop is expected to be 135,000-150,000 tons, another substantial increase
for the growing origin. Chandler initial shipments will depart in early May and at this time
of year is six months fresher than Californian product. The Chilean crop is known for its
light colour and large kernels, buyers unfamiliar with this product are encouraged to try it
this year.
