Tomato

The Australian 2017/2018 crop is still being harvested and the forecasted output remains at 245,000 tonnes.

The 2018 season processing planning and initial forecasts have been strongly affected by the weather conditions. Firstly, worries on water supply/shortages related to the low rainfall of the winter, followed by the quite heavy rainfalls which have helped to re-establish the reserves and reassured about water availability, but then have significantly interrupted and delayed the planting programs.

As of now, the World Processing Tomato Council forecast at the global level is around 37.04 million MT which is -2% compared to the final result of 2017 (37.79 million MT).
