Product Description

Desiccated Coconut is produced from fresh raw coconut where they are graded, shelled, de-husked. The meat of the coconut is then washed and pasteurized, cut into the desired size and dried.

Varieties/Types/Grades

It is of paramount importance that the raw coconut used in production of desiccated coconut is as fresh as possible and is used within days of being picked from the tree.

In terms of grades available this is determined by the fat content in the raw coconut. The fat content can range from 45% up to 70%.

Various cuts of coconut are produced including Fine, Medium, Coconut Shred and Coconut chips.

Other products are manufactured from coconut including coconut cream, milk powder and water.

Countries of Origin and Seasonality

There are three origins that dominate the supply of desiccated coconut and they are the Philippines, Indonesia and Sri Lanka. The other origins make up a very small percentage.

Coconuts are harvested all year round.

Product Applications

The coconut is one of the most resourceful nuts grown where nothing is wasted. Not only is it an important resource for food applications but also for other industries.
